Reference 6104 is a rare, early execution of the 36mm Oyster Perpetual Datejust, produced from approximately 1951 to 1953. It is often categorized by collectors as an ‘Ovettone’ or ‘Big Bubbleback’. Its primary technical feature is its case construction, which features a prominent, domed ‘bubble back’ required to house the thick automatic Caliber A.296 movement. This non-quickset movement is characterized by its use of a ‘roulette’ date wheel, which displays numerals in alternating red and black.
